The English hunting full-set taken over in Paris by Maison Berteil
Some time ago, one of our hunting customers, regretted not finding in Paris a hunting outfit available in London: the full-set.
Myself a long time hunter, I heard this term for the first time.
What was it ?
He explained to us that it is a five-piece hunting suit, made up of a classic three-piece suit, that is to say a jacket, trousers and a waistcoat, to which we add a knickers and a battered jacket.
It should be noted for non-hunters that the knickers are traditional hunting breeches that come just below the knee while the battered jacket is a sleeveless jacket, equipped with several large pockets which are used in particular to store cartridges .
A LITTLE INQUIRY ON THE FULL-SET, AN ENGLISH HUNTING COSTUME…
To better understand the subject, I take advantage of a trip to London to investigate the famous full-set
Indeed, our cousins from across the Channel, for whom elegance is a very serious matter, consider this five-piece set as an essential sesame, allowing you to go without worry in all hunts, whatever the dress code. .
Enthused by the great elegance of the concept, I returned to Paris, with the firm intention of offering it to our client friends.
A “MIX AND MATCH” HUNTING COSTUME FOR ALL OCCASIONS
In addition to its elegance, the great quality of this costume lies in the flexibility of its use, because it is modular!
We arrive in the morning at the hunting meeting in a jacket and knickers, then we exchange the city jacket for the beaten jacket and we are ready to go hunting. At lunch break, you put on your city jacket, and possibly the tailored waistcoat, and in the evening, for dinner, you can opt for trousers, with the traditional “three-piece suit”.
Thus, depending on where you are going, depending on the outfit required, depending on the temperature, you adapt the pieces to wear.
In summary with the full-set, you can face all situations without fault of taste. A real serenity!
NB: If the full-set includes five pieces, we are of course at your disposal if you only want three pieces, two or just one piece.
YOUR FULL-SET BERTEIL IN PARISIAN MEASURE, OR TAILOR-MADE
Berteil offers you two options for the full-set:

- either tailor-made: we start from your desires and we create the costume of your dreams. You choose the fabric, the lining, the number of pockets, the buttons... all shaped by our tailor, to your personal measurements. And don't be afraid to ask us for the moon, if it's technically feasible, we'll follow your wishes. Some customers have already shown a lot of creativity for our greatest pleasure!
CHOICE OF COLORS AND FABRICS FOR THE BERTEIL FULL-SET
Insofar as the full-set is dedicated to large spaces, tweed is one of the favorite fabrics and it is already a great playground since there are hundreds of tweeds!
However, nothing obliges you to do so, the full-set can also be made in large cotton canvas, wool, linen or even moleskin...
Everything is possible and elegance has no limit at Berteil.
BERTEIL ACCESSORIES FOR SUCH A HUNTING COSTUME
One of the first accessories to provide is obviously the hunting cap, preferably in tweed if the costume is already in this material.
With a knickers, we will wear high hunting socks, often very colorful.
Our collection of tall merino socks is a true gentleman's delight!
We will also choose beautiful shoes, such as the Rambouillet model, an elegant English model mounted on an "all-terrain" sole. These very lightweight shoes are perfect for hitting the countryside yet still look stylish when it comes to wearing them in the living room. This model has been designed and produced on the specifications of our customers. Thanks to them for inspiring us!
Finally, we will match sweaters, shirts, pocket squares, ties, ascots, according to the season, his tastes and the colors!
